INLINE Announces Release of 2 Gigabit Per Second Storage

TF460 Includes 2Gbps Host and Drive Side

DULLES, Va., April 15 /PRNewswire/ --Today INLINE Corporation announced the release of its 2 gigabit per second Fibre Channel storage solution. The MorStor TruFibre 460 also marks the release of INLINE's new product footprint which features up to 16 drives in a 3U (5.25") form factor.

Although other storage manufacturers have announced 2Gbps systems, the TF460 is one of the first products on the market to feature 2Gbps technology on both the host side and the disk side, other manufacturers making this claim can only offer 2Gbps technology on host connections. The disk drives on these products, where data is stored, are forced to operate at the slower, less efficient rates. Two gigabit per second speeds in Fibre Channel have long been touted as the answer to competition from new technologies such as iSCSI or storage over IP. Only recently has this technology become available for complete storage solutions. The TF460 will be able to take advantage of 2Gbps technology from switch manufacturers including INRANGE, Brocade and Gadzoox.

"We are very excited about the release of this product," James Fernandez, VP of Engineering for INLINE stated. "The TF460 is really going to allow our customers to get the most out of their storage. The faster speeds and higher capacity are what they have been asking for." The 2Gbps Fibre Channel technology is based on a well-developed standard, which will avoid the compatibility issues, associated with some older Fibre Channel technologies. The TF460 includes all of the features associated with high-end RAID storage including redundant, hot-swappable components and support for RAID levels 0,1,0+1,3, and 5.

INLINE also announced that the 16-drive, 3U form factor is also available in its new MorStor TruFibre 260 storage array. The TF260 shares most of the same features with the TF460. The exception is connection speed. The TF260 provides 1 gigabit per second connection speeds on both the host and drive side. This solution provides customers who want the reliability and speed of Fibre Channel, a lower-cost alternative.
